Cat’s death ‘not right’

A 61-year-old Hansville man has lost pet cats to eagles and dogs, but last week lost his cat to a .22 bullet.

A Kitsap County sheriff’s deputy was called to the 5000 block of NE Admiralty Way Oct. 21 after the man found his cat bleeding, according to sheriff’s reports.

The man said he had heard a gunshot and then saw his cat run into the house in a “panicked manner.”

The cat was euthanized at a veterinary clinic after an examination that found the bullet entered and exited the cat’s body.

The man suspected a neighbor shot the cat. When questioned by the deputy, the neighbor denied involvement.

The cat owner said he didn’t expect any criminal charges, but according to the deputy’s report, “He just didn`t think this was a natural way (for the cat) to go and not right.”
