    It’s not the same as seeing Russia from one’s backyard, but Mark Biggs can see the 23rd legislative district from his front yard.

    The East Bremerton resident, and chairman of the 35th Legislative District Democrats, was one of the first to speak at a state Redistricting Commission open house in Bremerton Thursday evening, and urged the four voting commissioners to consider including the city in one or two legislative districts, rather than the current three.

    The elderly man, a Kitsap County resident, was admitted to the emergency room because he was likely to kill himself.

    The hospital, outside of Kitsap County, telephoned Kitsap Mental Health, where he used to be a client before he was discharged, one of 261, due to budget cuts. The hospital needed information on his medication and where they could send him.

    Matthew James Netter was dangerously high on methamphetamine and pulled a loaded pistol on a Poulsbo police officer when he was shot and killed during a July traffic stop.
    Poulsbo officer Darrel Moore shot Netter, 23, of Bremerton, eight times at point blank range, until Netter stopped moving, according to a report issued Friday by Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney Russell Hauge.

    A 16-year-old Roy Lusk strolled down the street in Old Town Silverdale when a man approached him and asked what he was doing.
    “I’m walking down the street,” Lusk, 58, of Newberry Hill, remembered Tuesday. Then he paused. “Smart alec 16-year-old.”
    The man, Bob Burpee, a ranking official in what would later be known as Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, asked if he wanted to be a firefighter.

    A 79-year-old East Bremerton woman charged with murder told investigators she shot her husband Friday after he “egged her on,” handed her a cocked pistol and pointed at his forehead.
    Darlene M. Green was charged with second-degree murder Tuesday in Kitsap County Superior Court and was released on her own personal recognizance, said Deputy Prosecutor Chris Casad.
