Bucs will miss Strozier | The Buc Stops Here | January

Kingston High School students and staff will miss Kevin Strozier.

He was a great friend to everyone and an awesome coach to the Girl’s Basketball team.

“I’ve known Strozier since this school opened,” wrote Brooke Beltico. “He was always someone you could just talk to. You could see his love for his job, in his attitude, day to day. He was always making us kids laugh. We will for sure, hands down, miss him. But it is what it is and there’s nothing we can do about it. So yes, it is very upsetting that he is gone, but he’ll keep in touch. We all know he will he’s just that type of guy. We love you Strozier boy.”

That was just one of many quotes I could have picked from. Strozier was a great friend to everyone and an awesome coach to the girl’s basketball team. Even with a new coach taking care of the girl’s basketball team, they’re still doing a fantastic job and I’m sure Strozier’s very proud of each girl that went out for the team this year.

This month we had the annual Angel Tree project. Like last year, students were able to choose an I.D. tag of a child that was in need of certain items. The students that participated in this project did an amazing job this year, the day that workers came to pick up the gifts by the time every gift was in the back of the truck it was overflowing.

Students did an amazing job in giving back to the community, every year more and more students participate in this project. The idea that teenagers only think of themselves is not true at Kingston High School. You can always see us giving back to the community and you don’t always find that in other high schools.

The high school Key Club members joined the Kiwanis for a community food drive this month called The Apple Cup Food Drive, a competition to see how much each team could bring in donations of food or money. And the Grand total was Huskies —1,248 points and Cougars —1,028 points. Go Huskies!

The total amount of food collected was the equivalent of about 18-20 full shopping carts which has all been delivered to the Kingston Food Bank. The total cash/gift cards collected was $1,125.

On Jan. 5 the students of Kingston High School head back to school and don’t find ourselves having another big break until the very end of March (spring break!) In the month of January we will ourselves celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. day by holding an assembly that comes with a four day weekend.

We also have a new Drama production of “Anything Goes” debuting. Be sure to check that out. I hope everybody has a wonderful winter break.
