Forget about the politics and just fix the economy

This letter is being sent to all the elected officials that represent me in the federal, state or county level.

I doubt this will make it to everyone’s personal attention, but I had to make my views known to my elected officials.

I am very disappointed in how the direction of this country and Washington state has been directed. As quick back round, my family has taken a hit due to the economy — as have many millions of others.

My spouse, an LPN with more than 24 years at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, was part of the “reduction in force” that was announced this month. As an LPN in the Behavioral Health Unit, she and the 22 others affected did not think the economy would impact the nursing profession as it did by the closing of the entire unit.

She was three years from retirement and now, as of May 1, she has joined the ranks of the jobless.

That is a 40 percent reduction in our family income. We also lost her excellent healthcare benefits and gained stress that was avoidable.

I have commented over the years as to concerns I had regarding veterans benefits, healthcare, infrastructure and other issues that affect us on a local and country level.

I have made my concerns known via letters, e-mail, and personal discussions. I am very disappointed in how partisan politics plays such a big role in our lives.

You have been elected to be our voice in the government, and you are not listening.

You have allowed us to dive into a recession in all but official name. You have allowed and supported a war that has drained billions of taxpayer dollars.

You have allowed our infrastructure to all but collapse. You have allowed partisan politics, lobbyists, and big-money donors to run this country and state into the ground at the expense of the middle and lower-income citizens.

You have ignored the advice of those who may have prevented or at least mitigated the housing and banking crisis.

Some of you have been in office many years. A very few were elected in the last election.

Those in office that have been involved for many years I ask you why? Why have you allowed this to happen?

Instead of trying to balance a budget or fix the many problems, you have ignored them and played politics.

You have allowed taxpayer money to be spent for many things as you fill bills with pork. You then say it is for your districts taxpayers and will help the economy.

Guess what? It hasn’t.

You point the finger at fellow elected officials and say it is their fault, but I don’t give a damn whose fault it is.

Just fix it.
