False report evacuates store

Employees of a Port Orchard Safeway safely returned to work and the store reopened Nov. 28, hours after it was evacuated due to a false report of a bomb threat.

The Port Orchard Police Department responded at 6:37 a.m. to the Safeway off SW Sedgwick Road. Officers from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol, along with bomb and SWAT units, were brought to the scene as well.
