Body found in Liberty Bay identified

POULSBO — The investigation into the the death of Poulsbo resident Margaret A. Kirkpatrick, 53, was ongoing as of Tuesday morning. Kirkpatrick’s body was discovered at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning in Liberty Bay in the vicinity of the Asgard Apartments on Front Street. She had been reported missing Friday before being found Sunday and the coroner’s report is expected to be released in the next couple of days.

Kirkpatrick’s body was discovered at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning in Liberty Bay in the vicinity of the Asgard Apartments on Front Street. She had been reported missing Friday before being found Sunday and the coroner’s report is expected to be released in the next couple of days.

Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom said once the police investigation is complete his office will release the cause of death.

Kirkpatrick’s identity was not released until Monday morning when her daughter, who lives in Florida, was notified of her death.

Kirkpatrick is the city’s first fatality of the new year and the police department is releasing few details about its investigation.

Poulsbo Police Chief Jeff Doran said the department is still waiting on the toxicology reports and that detectives are still investigating the incident.

“It’s unfortunate whichever way it went,” Doran said.
