Bainbridge high schools graduations set for June 17

Staff report

Bainbridge and Eagle Harbor high schools will have their graduation ceremony starting at 4 p.m. at BHS Memorial Stadium June 17.

BHS will have 309 graduates and EHHS 32 for a total of 341. Fourteen students are still in the running for valedictorian. The winners won’t be known until the end of finals week. The BHS band is likely to perform, as is a student.

BISD superintendent Peter Bang-Knudsen and BHS principal Kristina Rodgers will speak, along with students Mayzie Carleton, Colin Black and Bruno Delfino. Students body and senior class officers will help throughout the ceremony, said Erin Bischoff, public relations officer.

Up to six tickets are reserved for each graduating senior; more if space allows. However, school officials say they have never run out of seating, which numbers about 3,000. Fifteen minutes before the ceremony others allowed in without tickets.

Also, it will be live-streamed at www.bisd303.org/graduation for those who can’t make it in person.

Graduation rehearsal is from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 16, meeting at Paski Gym.

Senior Awards Night is June 15 at 7 p.m. at the BHS Theater. Students will be honored with BHS, community and national scholarships and honors. Winners will be notified in advance, but the award not disclosed. Family and friends may also attend.

Baccalaureate is June 11. It’s an optional, non-denominational service hosted by Bainbridge Island Interfaith Council. While not a school event it will feature BISD student speakers and musical performances.
