NK Trails thanks marathon volunteers

Thank you volunteers

The first North Kitsap Trails Association Poulsbo Marathon was a heart-warming success thanks to Michelle Woodward and Elisa Webb. Despite the early morning hour, community energy and a “can do” spirit was overflowing in everyone from the organizers, volunteers, 340 runners and even the Poulsbo Middle School Leo Club who high fived the runners as they passed out water.

Besides this super successful event, NK Trails has many reasons to thank our community volunteers; Olympic Outdoor Center hosted the third annual Paddle Kitsap event, Aspect Consulting brought their entire company to build trails for a day, Hard Rock Materials gave us a great discount on gravel and Homeland Construction donated their specialty mini excavating equipment to gravel trails. The NK Heritage Park Stewardship committee has kept many, many volunteers busy on trails all season, the Hansville Greenway built a kiosk for the Heritage Park and NW Trailriders work on trails every month. Also many thanks to the Suquamish Tribe, Commissioner Bauer, the National Park service and others who have helped our volunteers with funds and technical assistance. And a special thank you to Olympic Property Group who installed a large fish friendly culvert under our trail near the beaver pond and continues to allow community access to their private property for all of us to enjoy the trails.

North Kitsap Trails Association is actively recruiting memberships, materials, donations and volunteers of all kinds at www.northkitsaptrails.org. NKTA would love to have you join us. Thank you again Michelle, Elisa and all the local businesses and volunteers who have helped on North Kitsap Trails this season.
