Kingston’s Johnson places third at Mat Classic | State Wrestling

KINGSTON — Dawson Johnson of Kingston placed third in the 195 weight class in the Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome, Feb. 20.

Johnson, a senior, had a strong performance throughout. He opened with a first-round loss to Anthony Ruiz of Othello, 5-4, but dominated the rest of his matches. He defeated Conrado Barrera of Tyee by fall in 1:56, Brian Womac of Highline 8-4, Cole Bonagofski of Bremerton by fall in 1:32, Devon Waterman of Cheney 5-3, and then Andrew Carney of Ellensburg 2-1
