SUQUAMISH — Kitsap Aware forum series on justice and citizenship presents “Food Sovereignty and Justice” June 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Suquamish United Church of Christ, 18732 Division Ave. NE, Suquamish.

Learn more about food justice and food sovereignty and be a part of a more just food system.

To start “changing the food system,” it helps to understand the way food gets to our plates and what alternative systems might be. The series will look at the global economic, social and political forces that surround and affect how we grow and eat our food.

Hear about the social movements that are changing our food system. Who are the people fighting the injustices of our food system? How do we build a food system where everyone has access to good food regardless of income? At the local level, hear about efforts to increase food justice through projects such as The Giving Garden in Kingston.

June’s featured speakers are Kathy Curry from The Giving Garden, Kingston and Kelly Lake, Food Justice Project Co-Chair Community Alliance for Global Justice. The Kitsap Aware forum series is open to the public and admission is free.
