Crosspoint boys win SeaTac League title

No. 2 seed in the 2B Bi-District tournament, host Orcas Island Feb. 13

BREMERTON — The Crosspoint Academy boys basketball team closed the season with victories in its final three games to capture the SeaTac League 2B championship.

With a win over Auburn Adventist on Feb. 5, the Warriors moved into the No. 2 seed in the 2B Bi-District basketball tournament and will host a home game against Orcas Island on Feb. 13.

Crosspoint 64,

Puget Sound Adventist 61

BREMERTON — The recent roll began with a 64-61 win over Puget Sound Adventist on Jan. 31. Jackson Kimmel converted four of his seven 3-point attempts on his way to a game-high 29 points. He also picked up nine rebounds in the game, leaving him one short of a double-double. Junior Alex Worth added 12 points and 12 rebounds and Grant Baker chipped in 14.

BREMERTON — The Warriors roared out to a 14-5 lead after one quarter Feb. 3 and never looked back. Kimmel was once again the star on the scoresheet, picking up 24 points while shooting 50 percent from the field. The win was a big one, in that it allowed Crosspoint to capture a league title with a triumph in its final regular season game.

Crosspoint 68, Auburn Adventist 45

AUBURN — The Falcons hung tough with Crosspoint through the first quarter, but a 19-8 run in the second helped the Warriors seal the victory and the league championship Feb. 5. Crosspoint only shot 42 percent from the field, including a 6-for-25 night from beyond the arc, but the defense played well and the Warriors sank enough baskets to cruise to a win. Grant Baker led the team with 15 points, Kimmel chipped in 12 and Aydan Laurion added 11. Weirth led the team with seven rebounds and Nathan Taylor added six.
