Jack Schaeffer

Jack Schaeffer of Bremerton died July 16, 2007 in Bremerton. He was 82.

Schaeffer was born to Jacob Ralph and Cecil Sylvia (Southworth) Schaeffer in Unadilla, N.Y. on May 6, 1925.

He married Inez Lucile Schaeffer (Deiner) in 1958.

Schaeffer worked as a park ranger from 1964, and transferred to Fay Bainbridge Park in 1967. In 1978 he was the care taker of the Country Club of Seattle. He also served as a volunteer fireman, fire commissioner, emergency medical technician and taught first aid and CPR.

He served in the Armed Forces when he was 18, and fought at D-Day and Battle of the Bulge during World War II.

Schaeffer enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 172.

Schaeffer is survived by his sons Donald Ivan (Shawnee) Schaeffer, Joseph Ralph (Barbara) Schaeffer and John Charles Schaeffer; daughters Anna Marie Schaeffer (Sonny Rogers), Ingrid Lucile McDonald (Christopher Lippold) and Michelle Inez (Victor) Solier; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Schaeffer was preceded in death by his wife Inez Lucile Shaeffer.

Services will be at 1 p.m. July 29 at Fay Bainbridge Park.
