Alfred Bratlien

Alfred Bratlien, 86

Poulsbo resident Alfred Bratlien died in Poulsbo on April 5, 2005. He was 86.

Bratlien was born to Kristian and Inga Bratlien in Noonan, N.D. on March 8, 1919.

He married Elizabeth I. Metcalfe on Aug. 19, 1946 in East Providence, R.I.

He served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 15, 1940 to May 6, 1963 and achieved rank of MCPO-E9. He did 12 patrols on the U.S.S. Swordfish for 23 years in the Pacific. He was an engineer. He also worked for Manchester Fuel Pier for 18 years as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth I. Bratlien of Poulsbo; sons Christian (Rebecca) Bratlien of Kirkland and David (Shelly) Bratlien of Poulsbo; daughters Elizabeth Madson of Worcester, Mass., Ellen (James) Colson of Woodinville and Deborah (Paul) Reihart of Seattle; brother Albert; sister Mabel, Judith, Lillian, Ellen and Dorothy; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Clarence, Theodore and Arthur and sister Clara.

A private family service was held.
