NKSD schools will be closed due to ominous forecast

North Kitsap School District schools and activities will closed and canceled off for Dec. 15 due to forecasted high wind warnings and hazardous weather, said NKSD community relations director Chris Case.

All after-school activities for today have also been cancelled — including the school board study session and regular meeting which has been postponed until Monday.

Stay tuned to the Herald’s Web site and other media outlets for any possible changes.

For now, weather reports for this evening into Friday from the Seattle Times note that the National Weather Service is forecasting sustained winds up to 40 mph, and gusts up to 65 mph around the Puget Sound.

For the Strait of Juan de Fuca, winds will average 50 to 60 mph and gust up to 90 mph.
