Christy Cole named KHS principal
Christy Cole, assistant principal at North Kitsap High School since 2001, was selected as principal of Kingston High School. KHS will open in September 2007. Cole replaces Bruce Saari who retired this spring.
The North Kitsap Board of Directors approved the hiring of Cole at the recommendation of Superintendent Gene Medina.
While at NKHS, Cole directed program development and the opening of the Polaris Program and serves as administrator of the program. She also spearheaded the work of the Guiding Principles Action Committee and has been a member of the KHS Educational Specifications Team. With 13 years of experience in education, Cole has served as administrator, dean of students and teacher at the high school and junior high levels. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and her Master’s of Education and Principal’s Certificate from Western Washington University.
KJH principal resigns
Ed Serra resigned his position as principal of Kingston Junior High last month after accepting the position of superintendent of the Clatskanie School District, in Clatskanie, Ore. Serra was KJH principal since 2002. The process for selecting Serra’s replacement is underway.
