Author Daniel James Brown will speak about the origin of “The Boys in the Boat” and the events surrounding the 1936 Olympics from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Admiral Ballroom at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, 3073 N.W. Bucklin Hill Road in Silverdale.
“The Boys in the Boat” is this year’s One Book, One Community selection by the Kitsap Regional Library.
It was selected for its strong themes of teamwork, hope and resilience. It is the tale of nine working-class boys from the Pacific Northwest who stormed the elitist rowing world and upstaged Adolf Hitler at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
There is no fee to attend and no reservations are needed.
