Injuries reported, one airlifted after six-vehicle crash in Bremerton

One driver was transported to Harborview Medical Center and two others to Harrison Medical Center

Washington State Patrol reported one person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and two others sustained injuries and were transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton after a six-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday at State Route 303 and Riddell Road in Bremerton.

According to WSP Trooper Chelsea Hodgson, the causing vehicle was traveling southbound on SR 303 in the turn lane and sideswiped two vehicles before rear-ending a third. The third vehicle was pushed into the intersection and was struck by a fourth vehicle. The first driver then struck a fifth vehicle while attempting to make a left turn onto northbound SR 303.

The individual who was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center was a 48-year-old male who had been driving a 2001 Ford Econoline Van, WSP said. A 77-year-old female driving a Green 2006 Saturn Vue and a 67-year-old female driving a 1998 Mercedes Sedan were transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with injuries. Two juvenile’s were also involved in the collision but were uninjured.

The roadway was blocked for approximately three hours before being reopened just before 3 p.m. The cause of the collision is under investigation, according to WSP.
