Hansville should consider PSE plan

Well, Puget Sound Energy might not have been set to roll out the generators in Hansville earlier this month — 1) because the situation wasn’t quite dire enough and 2) because it had nowhere to site them — but we sincerely hope residents there learned a lesson.

Sometimes it’s OK to accept a helping hand.

While residents of North Kitsap’s northernmost community have routinely shrugged PSE’s off, claiming “environmental” concerns, it is possible that the latest location being proposed will also be shunned by Hansville’s vocal populace. We hope this will not be the case.

Hansville should accept the temporary pollution caused by the PSE generator (after all how much smoke and exhaust did homes there choke out Jan. 4 and 5?) for what it is — the best offer currently on the table.

The other is blankets. Lots and lots of blankets. The Kitsap Quilters might help out there. Word is they do excellent work.

The bottom line is PSE has Hansville’s best interests in mind. It’s not looking to pollute the community with noise and exhaust — just keep it warm and lighted. We hope residents there will consider that before waving the NIMBY flag again and potentially shooing PSE off for good.
