SINGING CHAMPS

The Kitsap Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, known locally as the Kitsap Chordsmen, returned home from Boise, Idaho after earning the title of Small Chorus Champion during the Evergreen District Chorus Competition Oct. 25.

The Evergreen District, which covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alberta and British Columbia, has about 65 choruses. Sixteen choruses scored high enough at previous contests to compete at this level. A small chorus is made up of less than 30 singers. Kitsap Chordsmen placed sixth overall for the district.

Kitsap Chordsmen Director Mike Menefee led the group on “Sing Me That Song Again,” followed by assistant director Rob Nitz directing “Little Girl.”

Menefee also finished second in the quartet competition with the quartet, FastTrack. Menefee sang tenor along with Dan Hofkamp on lead; Don Rose on baritone; and Adrian Leonovich on bass.

The Kitsap Chordsmen also would like to invite local men to join them in their annual Christmas caroling. Rehearsals are each Wednesday in November from 7 to 8 p.m. at Olympic Evangelical Free Church, 14861 Silverdale Way in Poulsbo.

For additional caroling information or to find out more about the Kitsap Chordsmen, visit the Web site at www.singkitsap.org or call (360) 337-SING (7464).
