Vikings take over Poulsbo

The city of Poulsbo celebrated its 56th Viking Fest May 17-19.

This year’s event was host to bands from all over the region, a midway packed with vendors and carnival rides, the Glamfolk period reenactors, a worldwide Strongman competition qualifying event, and many other attractions.

The worst of the weather came during the parade Saturday, but wasn’t bad enough to dampen spirits of participants or observers. Ryan Turgano of Dungeon Fitness, producer of the Strongman event, said it wasn’t inconsequential. It demanded extra safety precautions during the event, in which dry, firm footing and grips were a matter of concern.
