Fishline will benefit from Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

POULSBO — On Saturday, May 12, those who wish to donate food to North Kitsap Fishline can do so by simply leaving their food donations beside their mailbox before Saturday’s daily mail delivery.

Fishline will be benefiting from the 26th Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive hosted by the National Association of Letter Carriers. The nationwide drive will see letter carriers in Kitsap County picking up food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes and then distributing the donations to Fishline. The drive is the nation’s largest single-day food drive, with 10,000 cities across America participating, including Puerto Rico, the VIrgin Islands and Guam.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has been held on the second Saturday of May for the past 25 years and since its inception has been responsible for gathering more than 1.5 billion pounds of food for the hungry. Last year alone the drive was responsible for netting a whopping 80 million pounds of donations.
