Fire at NK storage facility damages 2 buildings

A 2nd alarm fire at a self-storage facility, Attic Storage, damaged two buildings near the intersection of Bond Road and Minder Road the morning of Jan. 22, per North Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters have been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kitsap County Fire Marshal’s Office. NKF&R and Poulsbo Fire Department crews were dispatched at 1:10 a.m. after a passerby reported seeing flames near the industrial park between Kingston and Poulsbo.

The first firefighters arrived on scene just over five minutes later to find one self-storage building already well involved in fire, with flames spreading to the second structure, NKF&R says. Additional resources were requested with a second alarm. Over 20 units from NKF&R and assisting agencies (including PFD, Navy Region Northwest and Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue) responded to the incident.

With ample water supply from nearby hydrants, firefighters were able to contain the blaze and limit further spread. The building where the fire apparently started suffered the most severe damage, while only a portion of the second structure was affected, per NKF&R.
