An investigation is underway following the deaths of a child and her father in a house fire July 5 in unincorporated Port Orchard, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene along with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue at about 1:30 a.m. after one of the residents in the home called 911. Deputies reported the house engulfed in flames when they arrived. SKFR crews had to send multiple water tenders to the location because of a lack of water pressure from nearby fire hydrants, per KCSO.
A 9-year-old girl and her 40-year-old father died because of their injuries.
The deaths and fire are under investigation by the Kitsap County Fire Marshal and KCSO Detectives. The Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death of the girl and her father.
