Weaving community ties through real estate and knitting

A person who inspires creativity and care in the Kitsap community

In the bustling world we live in, it’s rare to find someone who truly embodies the spirit of community and creativity. Sheila Joynes is one such gem, combining her passions for real estate, knitting, teaching and community service into a life that inspires joy and connection among those around her.

Sheila’s journey into the world of real estate stemmed from her core belief that following one’s dreams was essential, no matter one’s stage of life.

As a realtor for John L. Scott, she brings empathy, expertise and enthusiasm to her work, helping clients navigate the often complex process of buying or selling a home.

“It’s about making people happy, seeing the joy on their faces when they find their perfect home,” Sheila reflects. Her approach is shaped by her diverse background in education and nursing.

Her impact extends beyond the boundaries of real estate. A published knitting designer, dedicated to her craft, she creates all kinds of patterns.

“Knitting is not just a hobby for me; it’s a way of bringing people together, of bringing the community together,” says Sheila, whose blog and Pinterest page are treasure troves of inspiration for fellow knitters, with everything from intricate designs to advice for those looking to explore the art of knitting.

Her commitment to community service is evident in her volunteer work and generous spirit. Sheila donates yarn and offers free courses to those who cannot afford them, ensuring that the joy of knitting is accessible to all.

“It’s all about making people feel happy and fulfilled,” says Sheila, who has a Bachelor degree in art education and experience teaching elementary education.

Despite her transition from education to real estate and knitting, teaching remains a core part of Sheila’s identity, whether she’s guiding a first-time homebuyer or a novice knitter.

“My teaching background helps me break down complex processes into understandable steps, whether I’m explaining a real estate transaction or a knitting technique,” she says.

Dreams for the future

Looking to the future, Sheila has no plans to slow down. Her ambition and dreams are as vibrant as ever, with a clear vision to continue impacting her clients and community.

“I’ll probably never retire; I enjoy it so much,” she says with a smile.

Whether through real estate, knitting or community involvement, Sheila Joynes remains committed to weaving joy and connection into the fabric of her community. “If there’s something to do that will bring joy, I think we should go for it,” she reflects.
