On May 17, I met Bob Middlebrook, retired Air Force civilian employee and executive director of Sound Works Job Center, a nonprofit in Poulsbo.

He has served for many years at little or no pay to provide job information, free of charge, to anybody who comes through his door on Iverson Street across from the library. People from all walks of life — the Tribes, veterans, single moms, seniors and others — depend on his service for job information, resume writing and referrals. Many of his clients don’t drive and lack funds for public transportation. These hard working people want jobs and have no other place locally to access the free services Bob provides.

The City of Poulsbo has graciously donated office space to Sound Works for many years and now Bob needs to find a new home. Bob was informed to vacate his building by June 30. His nonprofit is strapped for cash and needs a space to move to. The city has granted to Sound Works $2,500, which is earmarked for re-location costs.
