Letters to the Editor

North Enders sound off on state candidates.

Endorsing Lord

We strongly support Connie Lord for the 23rd Legislative District Senate seat, opposing incumbent Senator Phil Rockefeller, who in our opinion is a prime supporter of this state’s irresponsible spending practices.

In a recent public interview Senator Rockefeller actually bragged the state has “stowed away” a $400 million dollar “rainy day fund.” It was Connie Lord who quickly pointed out that under the present Democratic Governor the unnecessary, sometimes frivolous, runaway spending has turned a $2.5 billion state surplus into a $3.2 billion state deficit — a $5.5 billion dollar turnaround. Senator Rockefeller left this part out!

Connie Lord shares our concerns about this unnecessary, out-of-control spending. When elected, Connie Lord will align herself with like-minded legislators to defeat proposed unneeded spending bills and help rescind undesirable legislation already passed that has placed this state into serious financial trouble.

Connie Lord, who has extensive business experience and has served responsibly on the Poulsbo City Council for the past eight years, will be aggressive in representing all of us to stop this wasteful runaway spending and put our state government back on a sound fiscal basis.

We urge that you vote for Connie Lord for State Senator, 23rd District.

Reply to Endorsement of Appleton

I read the Letter to the Editor and made note of the phase “I am sick of it”. Indeed it does seem strange that someone endorsing the Incompetent would be sick of it. After all, Sherry Appleton has had 4 years to “Fix it” and she has not.

The writer said that she is for education, the environment, and working families, yet Appleton willfully admits to being a former lobbyist that know how politics works. Yes! she does have experience. The wrong kind of experience. She has experience at using the people’s government to promote the agenda of special interests, and the special interest that she caters to have given her 100 times as much money to work with as Larry Cooney has.

Indeed “I am sick of it” I am sick of a government that carters to special interests. I am sick of incumbents that continue to raise taxes because they refuse to cut spending and waste. I am sick of special interests writing Bills for their own benefit at the expense of the people’s Liberty and using lobbyists to get these laws passed. Yes, I am sick of the way the whole damn political system works. I am sick of what Sherry Appleton claims to have experience at doing.

We need change in the 23rd Legislative District. The Democratic Incumbents have a lock on the government here, and their answer to all problems is more government and higher taxes. Larry has run a successful non-profit organization that helps underprivileged people without government funding. He knows that cuts in state government spending have to be made, and he will be looking at wasteful spending. State Auditor Brian Sonntag has identified Billions in wasteful state spending, yet little or nothing has been done to implement his findings. Larry needs only to cut the wasteful spending in order to reduce the need to raise taxes. Larry has never worked for the special interests as a Lobbyist, so he won’t have a problem cutting these useless parasites from the state budget.

The Papers say, Sherry Appleton has “Experience”. Experience at What? Think about it!
