Kingston Food Bank will stay open

The Kingston Food Bank is not shutting its doors. There has been gossip that we are shutting our doors due to lack of funds and food. We plan to be there as a family until the last can of food leaves the shelves. We have our community donators that keep us going and we thank them so much for seeing the good that we do. Our food bank is the “oldest” in town, having been started by Vi and Ray Weaver 45 years ago. It has seen children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren helping to run things. We are just as important as any other food bank. We see more and more needy families and the work is always there. We would like to also encourage our donors as well as the community, to please consider us when you have an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits. Many of our homeless seldom are able to get these things. We are already collecting school supplies for September when the kids go back to school. Please consider them when you buy your kids supplies. Our food barrel is still at Albertsons, but has been put back by the ice machine. Please don’t think it is gone! You may also call Vi at (360) 297-3277 or Barb at (360) 297-7100 if you have any questions or need to drop off anything on our days off. I will be glad to meet you there. We would like to especially thank Rich’s Custom Upholstery Inc. for having a 50/50 raffle and donating the proceeds to us. I went in their shop and it is beautiful. Go check them out. They are the nicest people. They are located in the Premier Rental complex in the very back. The most sincere thanks to all of our supporters. We do not have to be pushy or aggressive to achieve our goals. We are caring people who care for each and every one of our customers. We thank you for keeping us that way.
