In defense of trickle-down and shock-and-awe

Tom thinks “trickle-down” economic policy and “shock and awe” military policy were failures. Really! He just happened to pick two of the most successful programs in recent history.

I am writing today about two letters in your July 29 edition. The letters were written by Tom Driscoll and Bill Stockinger.

Tom thinks “trickle-down” economic policy and “shock and awe” military policy were failures. Really! He just happened to pick two of the most successful programs in recent history. Unsaid was any mention of a $20 trillion national debt or a totally failed healthcare program.

Tom worries that terrorists and outlaws do not respect or obey our laws. I am more worried about our politicians who not respect or obey our laws.

Tom also thinks Trump’s slogans are “myopic.” Tom, re-read your own letter; talk about myopic.

Bill’s letter neglects to mention national debt and failed healthcare, but touts the manipulated figures on violent crime and unemployment. I’ll give Bill credit for one thing, though, he comes right out and says “illegal” immigration.

For both gentlemen, I have bad news. “Alice in Wonderland” has already been written. I also suggest that you both could start with a simple Google search of the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act (McCarran-Walter Act).

We all get to vote for whomever we want and we still have some choices. We can vote for a business man or an unindicted felon or maybe an avid socialist backed by the Communist Party and their newspaper, revcom.us, who, incidentally, published those lovely signs that the dissidents wave for the TV cameras.
