Drive slow in school zones, for kids’ sake

As the school season approaches I think a reminder about slowing in school zones is important. While everyone sees the need for the first speed reduction near Kingston Middle School not everyone realizes the need and even obeys the slowing past the high school access road, Siyaya Ave. While driving West Kingston Road, some may think it’s a side street, not a driveway, therefore why are we required to slow?

If you take the time to drive down the road and back out again you will easily see value in reducing your speed.

The sight distance for cars coming out of Siyaya Avenue on to West Kingston Road is very short due to the hilly terrain in the road.

If you’re driving too fast on West Kingston you may find yourself broad siding a teenager doing the best they can with their limited experience.

Please heed the warning lights and speed requirements as you approach school zones as the children AND teenagers need all of our commitment in insuring they have a bright future.
