I’m writing you all to let you know that my campaign posters — paid for by public donations — are being torn down around town. There are still a few remaining up near the country store and post office, but the vast majority of the ones I put up the afternoon of Oct. 18 were gone by late evening.

I really don’t care who is supporting who in this race now, as there is a bigger issue at stake. I’ve put myself out there because I believe in this town, as I hope is attested to through this poster art (which I conceived and which was executed by an artist friend). The last thing I would have expected is that people would feel the need to take away my right to be heard as a candidate.

I’d like to hear from Eric Cookson on this, especially as he’s been cited by the North Kitsap Herald as being “committed to improve communication between the district and residents.” How about starting here?

I’ve said publicly I’ll support Eric if the people elect him. I’d like to hear him state publicly that this activity is unacceptable. This is not about any one candidate, this is about the ability to have a civil discourse and a democratic process in Indianola.
