A community that takes care of each other

Each year, the team at Fishline becomes witness to a remarkable phenomenon. When the talk turns to the holidays, our community galvanizes in a way and with a passion that is beyond words.

From the food drives that bring thousands of pounds in a single day, and combine to almost 10,000 pounds in a single week, to the steady stream of turkeys and Thanksgiving meal fixings that are lovingly donated by dozens of local families and organizations, the message is consistent and inspiring: With each act of kindness, with each decision to share so that others may receive, our community has made the poignant decision that we take care of each other here.

Each year, we see generosity reach new and powerful levels unknown in years past. Children come to our door laden with canned goods and boxed meals, beaming with pride and joy. Families come together to do grand things – just two families alone delivered almost 3,000 pounds of turkeys and eggs and pies in a single day! Local organizations join in by holding food drives and fundraisers, making sure our shelves are stocked for the long winter ahead. Our volunteers hold us together, stepping up to keep up with positivity and relentless devotion.

The list of all those who come together to help Fishline during the holidays is too long to recount here, and just that alone is a vivid reminder of just how deeply North Kitsap is steeped in the kindness that brings us together and makes us all family.

Thank you to all of you who have made it possible for those going through their hardest times to gather around a Thanksgiving table and be grateful for the neighbors who made it possible.

From all of us at Fishline, we wish you all a beautiful holiday season.
