Affordable RV Repair opens in Bremerton

Marc Scott has been fixing big and small recreational vehicles (RVs) for more than 20 years.

The Bremerton native worked for local RV businesses, but recently decided 2009 was his year to set up his own shop.

Scott opened Affordable RV Repair on Kitsap Way in Bremerton Jan. 1 (see map). He worked for RV businesses in Poulsbo, Bremerton and throughout the county, but decided now was the time to open his own place.

“This was a great opportunity,” Scott said.

Scott has been doing RV repair since 1988 when he graduated from Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood.

“It paid well and I stuck with it,” Scott said with a smile.

Scott said Affordable RV Repair’s mission is to provide customers high-quality service at a low cost. He added that Affordable RV Repair does a wide variety of RV services at its Bremerton facility.

“We do all major RV repair including plumbing, electrical, construction, insurance, body damage, appliances, detailing,” Scott said.

Scott said he and his staff of certified RV technicians don’t do all their repair work at their Bremerton shop.

“We are mobile. We will travel to people,” he said. “It’s all within reason. I’ll travel up to 40 or 50 miles one way.”

Affordable RV Repair is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but Scott said he and his technicians are on-call after hours in case of emergencies.

“We’ll do emergency service calls after hours or weekends if somebody needs something,” he said.

Scott said business hasn’t been too shabby at Affordable RV Repair. Some of his regular customers from the other RV businesses he worked at followed him to his own business.

“It’s been better than I thought it would,” Scott said.

He said the RV business is a somewhat seasonal business, with more people traveling in the summer months, but wintertime isn’t as slow as one would think.

“Even in the wintertime there’s ups and downs,” Scott said. “In this industry you just kind of ride the wave.”

Scott said owning his own business has been great so far and filled with its share of challenges.

“There’s always more to it than you thought, but overall, it’s been a good learning experience,” he said.
