Kitsap golfers fall short at districts

The West Central District III golf tournament ended on a sour note for Kitsap County golfers.

Although several Kitsap golfers will be competing at state, none qualified through districts.

Bremerton’s Jackson Fletcher missed the top six cut by one stroke, shooting an 84 at the Dungeness Golf Course in Sequim. Kingston’s Tyler Rose was the other Kitsap golfer, finishing 14th out of 16 with a 94.

On the girls side, Olympic’s Kiyomi McKenzie missed the cut by 12 strokes, finishing ninth with 105.

North Kitsap’s Abbey Smart finished a few strokes back with 108, and Kingston’s Leah Garringer fell at the bottom with 146.
