A look at local prep football games this week

Fife (7-3) vs. North Kitsap (9-1)

Fife’s offense is run-heavy. But that is what North Kitsap’s defense is built to shut down. The Viking defensive line, led by Sofian Hammou, has made 102 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

To win, Fife would need to stop NK early. Last Friday, the Vikings scored 23 points in the first quarter against Renton. Second, the passing game must be relevant. Either Zach Robertson or Tyler Kern need to step up and beat North Kitsap’s defensive backs. Otherwise, the Vikings should add another blowout to its record.

Olympic (8-2) vs. Enumclaw (10-0)

Olympic’s offense has balanced out the last few weeks. The Trojans have 1,808 yards in the air and 1,539 on the ground on the season. In addition, Olympic has eight players with at least 100 receiving yards, an average of 9 yards per reception and a touchdown.

The team still relies on running back Joshua Gauyan, who averages 120 rushing yards and 1.4 touchdowns per game.

Enumclaw has two playmakers. Running back Emitt Otero is rushing for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns per game. He has averaged nearly 8 yards per carry.

Wide receiver Austin Paulson only has 26 receptions this season. However, he has 476 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. That could be a matchup nightmare for Olympic’s defensive backs.
