The North Kitsap Vikings defeated Klahowya’s girls swim team 112-55 Oct. 12.
Although NK dominated in the team score it was because of their depth as they finished first in seven of the 12 events, including having the only diver of the meet, Ema Riegel.
In addition, the Vikings picked up just two more district-qualifying times than the Eagles in the meet. But NK had at least two of the top-three times in 10 of the 12 events.
One of the best weapons North Kitsap had was Izzy Cera. Even though she did not win any of her three events, she earned a total of 11 points and qualified for districts in the 100-yard backstroke.
On the flip side, Klahowya had eight events where a swimmer either finished last or did not earn a point for the squad. Therefore, NK averaged 9.3 points per event while the Eagles earned an average of 4.6.
North Kitsap and Klahowya had a few of their top stars swim well. Viking Tiffany Le qualified for districts in the 100- and 200-yard free races while Caylie Slama qualified in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke.
Eagle Loren Swaney qualified for districts in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events while teammate Cayley Haydu qualified in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley, beating Slama by seven seconds.
