Naval Base Kitsap to observe Battle of Midway 76th Anniversary

June 7 at 1:00 p.m. on Bremerton waterfront boardwalk

BREMERTON —Capt. John Kurtz, USS Nimitz (CVN 68) executive officer, will be the keynote speaker during the 76th Anniversary Battle of Midway Remembrance Ceremony, Thursday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m. on the Bremerton waterfront boardwalk.

The Battle of Midway is regarded as one of the Navy’s and the nation’s most historically significant naval victories. The battle occurred June 3-7, 1942, and changed the tide of the war in the Pacific and the course of world history.

To remember and honor the sacrifices of those who participated, a wreath laying ceremony will be conducted. Navy Band Northwest will provide music, and the Scorpions of Electronic Attack Squadron One Three Two (VAQ-132), out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, will deliver an EA-18G Growler flyover.
