NK fastpitch

blanks PA, 3-0

POULSBO — Rachael Kramer pitched a complete game, struck out seven and allowed only two hits as North Kitsap’s fastpitch team cruised to a 3-0 win Wednesday versus Port Angeles.

The win solidifies North’s (5-4 overall, 3-2 league) position in the top four and the team now has a shot to repeat as Narrows’ Bridge champs, said assistant coach Mike Kolda.

“We’re right back in it now,” he said. “I think we’re on everybody’s radar.”

Run support came from Coreena Stout, who was two-for-three with two doubles and Josie Ball and Chrystal Camus, who were each two-for-three. The Vikings had 10 hits spread out over eight batters.

“That’s what we love about this squad — anybody can get a big hit,” Kolda said. “It’s starting to feel like last year out here.”

North hosts Shelton at 3:30 p.m. April 25.

NK lacrosse can’t

match Holy Names

POULSBO — Faltering to a 9-1 deficit after the first half, the North Kitsap girls’ lacrosse team couldn’t recover versus the Holy Names Cougars, losing 13-5 Wednesday.

NK goals came from Megan Lockert (3), Bria Phillips and Amanda Divyak. Viking striker Krista Burleson was also not available for the game and that threw the normal rotation out of sync, head coach Val Torrens said.

“It was disappointing,” she said of the loss. “But if everyone had been on, we’d of had a chance of winning.”

North falls to 2-5 on the season, however, Torrens remains optimistic that the team can rebound.

“We have a goal of .500 this season and I still think we have the ability to get there,” Torrens said.
