POULSBO — Two Relay for Life teams, with players from the NK Select FC ’95 soccer team, were able to raise more then $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Betsy’s Squad and Surviving & Thriving with Betsy raised a combined $5,800. The Relay teams fundraised the third and fourth highest amounts for the Cancer Society, out of the participants in the 2013 Relay for Life of North Kitsap.

The soccer players raised money from wristband sales and pay-to-play soccer tennis. The team ran and walked more than 220 laps during the North Kitsap Relay event July 26-27.

The fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society was the soccer team’s charity for 2013. The $5,800 is more than 10 percent of the North Kitsap Relay’s event total this year.
