The Viking ship Valkyrie has arrived in Little Norway and is now docked at the Port of Poulsbo.
The 56-foot vessel is a replica of Skuldelev 6, a 1,000-year-old Norwegian-built Viking ship discovered beneath the waters of Roskilde, Denmark, per a Port of Poulsbo Facebook post. Crafted over 11 years, Valkyrie is certified as an inspected passenger vessel by the U.S. Coast Guard for voyages on the Salish Sea and potentially beyond, making it the first of its kind in the country.
Other future sites the vessel may visit include Deception Pass, Ballard, Anacortes, Coupeville, La Conner, San Juan Islands, and Point Roberts. For an updated schedule, more information, and to read about the vessel’s history, visit Valkyrie’s website at northwestvikingship.com
