Central Kitsap and Olympic high school students return to their classrooms Sept. 6.

CKHS will not have many new changes, except for a new mural funded by the State Arts Commission and included staff, student and parent feedback during the design phase.

Olympic High has continued its massive overhaul since 2017, including a complete remodel of the locker rooms and main gym. The next plans include upgrading the multipurpose room adjacent to the gym and the school’s wrestling program. In addition, the Trojans will welcome six new staff.

Olympic has two more major differences this school year. When cars enter the main parking lot on Stampede Drive, drivers will see the direct lane in front of the school and pool will turn into a two-lane, one-way route. The change was made to speed up student dropoff and pickup and decrease the line of cars. Arrows will be painted and signs placed before the first day of school. Staff will help direct traffic the first week of school.

Lastly, Olympic High students will be using the main campus. However, Peninsula Community Health Services will be using the portable classrooms for the school-based clinic. In addition, the portables will be used for state and AP testing, student clubs and specialized programs.
