Olympic senior running back Chace Webster continued his monster season by rushing for a career-high 315 yards and scoring five touchdowns as the Trojans beat Bremerton on the road 34-14 Oct. 10 to stay in first place in the Olympic League.

The Trojans improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in league play, while the Knights fell to 2-4 on the season, 2-1 in league play. Webster’s performance moved him over 1,200 yards on the season through six games. Larry Dixon holds Olympic’s school record for most rushing yards in a season at 1,840 yards back in 2008.

The win over Bremerton marked the fifth consecutive game in which Webster has totaled over 200-plus all-purpose yards.

“I started to see things better,” Webster said. “I definitely started bringing up blocks better because I have to be smart about mine.”

Neither team could get much of anything going on their first drives of the game, but the Knights’ defense forced a turnover on downs with three minutes remaining in the first quarter, giving Bremerton some momentum early.

However, the momentum Bremerton found quickly faded after Webster was able to lead the Trojans down the field on their next offensive drive, punching the ball in for the first score of the game, giving Olympic a 7-0 lead.

The Bremerton offense continued to struggle to move the ball down the field. Knight quarterback Buda Sorenson threw his first interception of the game with less than a minute to go before halftime. The Trojans led 21-7 at the break.

Olympic coach Sal Quivetus Jr. noted the importance of having Webster, the frontrunner for Olympic League MVP, on the field.

“In Chace we trust, he’s just that dynamic,” Quivetus Jr. said. “You know, all the work he’s done these last few years; just being stronger, faster, and just having the endurance.”

Olympic continued their strong offensive showing behind Webster’s dominant performance on the ground, adding a rushing touchdown to his total with five minutes remaining in the third quarter and adding another one at the beginning of the fourth.

The Trojans continued their dominant offensive performance behind Webster and company, rattling off first down after first down and not allowing the Knights to have a chance to get back into the game.

Olympic now sits in the driver’s seat for the Olympic League title.

“I mean…there’s still a lot of things to work on,” Quivetus Jr. said. “We just got to get better at finding ways to get the ball out.”
