Christmas Eve blaze engulfs abandoned home on Viking Way

A portion of Viking Way was closed for about 45 minutes on Christmas Eve due to a house fire.

Crews from Poulsbo Fire, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, and Central Kitsap Fire responded to the house fire on Viking Way at about 7 p.m.

Due to the location of the house, a portion of Viking Way had to be closed down to control water access in order to put out the blaze.

According to county fire marshalls on the scene, the single-family home that was engulfed appeared to have been abandoned for some time.

An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is ongoing.

No citizens or firefighters were injured and Viking Way was reopened for holiday travelers.
