PORT ORCHARD — During the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Nov. 8, two deserving South Kitsap School District employees were recognized with Star Staff awards.

Classified and certificated staff members from the school district were nominated by their peers or supervisor based on their work in four categories: Team Work, Innovation, Job Performance and Student Connection/Engagement.

Winners are selected and recognized three times a year at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon with a certificate of recognition and gift cards from chamber businesses, said Amy Miller, the school district’s spokeswoman.

Don Fike, lead journeyman in the facilities and operations department, received the award for Classified Star Staff Member and Ryan Manning, a teacher at Mullenix Ridge Elementary, received the Certificated Star Staff Award. Both Fike and Manning were nominated by their supervisors.
