Central Kitsap’s Fischer places 17th at 2016 3A Girls Cross Country Meet

SILVERDALE — Central Kitsap junior Molly Fischer placed 17th at the 2016 3A Girls Cross Country Meet, Nov. 5 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

All told, 162 athletes from 16 teams competed in the meet.

Fischer finished the 5K run in 19:08.6, good enough for seven points that helped boost her team to 11th place in the meet.

Other Central Kitsap finishers: senior Heather Schronce, 20:05.2, 61st place; sophomore Sophia Kohler, 20:11.5, 67th; junior McKenzie Perkes, 20:25.2, 92nd; senior Julia Claeys, 21:12.3, 128th; sophomore Lucinda King, 22:39.6, 155th; freshman Madeline Shetler, 23:45.7, 160th.

Jordan Oakes, a senior at Holy Names Academy, finished the 5K in 17:44.0 to win the state title.

The Central Kitsap boys’ squad was represented in the 3A Boys Cross Country State Meet by senior Christian Kuss and junior Ian Nye. Kuss finished the 5K in 17:11.2 to place 91st of 164 runners. Nye finished in 107th with a time of 17:20.9.

James Mwaura, a junior at Lincoln High School, won the state title with a time of 15:32.9.
