Central Kitsap’s Sims finishes in top 10 in four events at state swim championships

SILVERDALE — Central Kitsap’s 400-yard freestyle relay team placed seventh in the 2016 3A Girls State Swim & Dive Championships, Nov. 12 at the King County Aquatics Center.

Sophomore Taylor Sims, sophomore Haley Morkert, senior Grace Smith and sophomore Chelsea Miller finished the relay with a time of 3:42.74.

Sims, Morkert, Smith and junior Tatiana Tubberville placed 10th in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:42.19.

In individual events, Sims placed eighth in the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:14.03. Sims also placed ninth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.06, an improvement on her prelim time of 59.78.

Miller placed 15th in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:03.06.

Morkert finished 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.44; and 19th in the 100-yard freestyle, 56.11.
