County office hours announced

The Kitsap County treasurer and assessor offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.

On April 4, the assessor’s hours were adjusted for the electronic Real Estate Excise Tax (eREET) processing.

In 2009, the treasurer and assessor offices closed on Fridays due to budget cutbacks, and staff members’ hours were reduced. Both offices worked to provide service via the internet so that taxpayers could transact business whenever they wanted to, but a limited number of transactions still need to be processed in person.

In November 2013, the county treasurer began processing eREET transactions on Friday. County commissioners approved an increase in funding to the treasurer’s office which allows for the expanded hours to serve taxpayers on Fridays.

Taxpayers are also reminded that first half property taxes must be paid or postmarked no later than April 30.
