South Kitsap girl named first runner-up at pageant

Emily Houston was named first runner-up in the teen division at the Miss Seattle Scholarship Pageant held Nov. 17 in Renton at the Ikea Performing Arts Center.

It was a preliminary pageant for the Miss Washington Outstanding Teen Pageant scheduled for May.

Houston, a sophomore at South Kitsap High School, also won the People’s Choice Award. During the pageant, she earned $850 for her scholarship account.

Hailey Sturgill of Bellevue was named Miss Seattle Teen and Kimball Gainor of Bellingham was crowned Miss Seattle for 2014.
