RETSIL — Robert Lee Carpenter, died at Retsil Veterans Home on Aug. 2. He was 93.
He joined the Navy Nov. 12, 1941 and served onboard USS Dunlap (DD-384). He received a medical discharge in 1944 for illness incurred while serving in the South Pacific. As a civilian, he worked for several years at a King County Christian camp.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Dale Carpenter, Dean Carpenter, Judy Greear, and Joyce Carpenter; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 17, 1 p.m., at Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood. Internment will be at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
