KINGSTON — The Port of Kingston has bought additional land near its boat launch, which is undeveloped and will remain that way for the near future.
Port Manager Kori Henry said the port bought two vacant lots on West Kingston Road, just under one acre, for $370,000. The funds came from the port’s marina rehabilitation fund, which will pay to replace the docks in an estimated 15 years.
Henry said commissioners decided to use some of the funds for this property, eventually hoping for a contiguous piece of property from the port along West Kingston Road. There is one lot of private property between the boat launch and the two vacant lots. Henry said it will be open public space once the port pulls out the invasive species and other underbrush.
