Tweten wins gold award for garden writing

KINGSTON — Kingston Community News columnist Wendy Tweten won a Gold Award for Best Magazine Writing in the Garden Writers Association 2012 Media Awards (www.gardenwriters.org). She won for the column, “The VooDoo Garden: Good Help is Hard to Find,” which was published by WestSound Home & Garden magazine. The column is republished with permission in this edition of KCN.

It’s the third year she’s been honored by the Garden Writers Association. In 2009, she received a Silver Award for Newspaper Writing for “Miss Snippy Patronizes the Plant Sales,” published in Northwest Garden News. In 2008, she received a Gold Award for Best Electronic Media Writing for the article “Wendy Tweten’s Top Ten,” published on www.rainyside.com; and a Silver Award for Newspaper Writing for “Miss Snippy derides again,” published in the Kingston Community News.
